Walker Learning Approach

Here at Huntfield Heights we have implemented a play based learning program called the Walker Learning Approach “WLA” for F-2. This pedagogy is based on over 20 years of research and is a complete approach to teaching and learning using hands-on learning experiences. It is a holistic approach that allows children to become active participants in their learning. Teachers create structured investigative stations to inspire, hook and prompt their students to become creative explorers, investigating and develop their ideas. WLA blends student driven learning with formal instruction. Children are introduced to the days learning four mornings a week. Giving them the opportunity to explore and provide prior knowledge to the explicit learning later in the day.
